Stakesby Arms push for promotion gathered pace as Sherburn were brushed aside to close the gap on the leading pack to 2 points on the same games played.
The away side were much the better throughout and led on 25 minutes when Smith broke free and as his cross come shot went across the box, it was turned into his own net by a Sherburn defender for 1-0.
The away side continued to press and got a second goal on the verge of half time when Smith's quickly taken freekick was lifted over the wall and evaded the keeper who was completely out of position for 2-0 at the break.
The second half saw Sherburn come out and try to find a way back into the game and for 15 minutes they put the away side under pressure wit a succession of corners, before the killer third goal arrived on 62 minutes when a long ball found Lee Brennan, who rounded the keeper and tapped home to put the result beyond doubt.
Arms made changes as Steele Limped off through injury and number 4 soon arrived when Brennan lashes home his second of the game from five yards.
Mike Kilpatrick and Mike Brennan entered the game for the away side in the last 20 minutes and goal number 5 arrived when Smith flicked the ball out wide to Simon Taylor who crossed in the box only for the unlucky Sherburn defender to bag his second own goal of the game and seal an emphatic victory for Stakesby.
